Karen started dancing at the age of 3, taking Ballet and Tap exams with the British Ballet Organisation and the IDTA. She later took exams with the Midland Academy of Stage Dancing in Acrobatics and Modern, and has continued to dance ever since.

Wanting to share her passion, Karen set up The Karen Macpherson School of Dance in 1995, with just 18 pupils, and put on her first dance show in 1997 at Colton Hills.

Approved by the British Dance Qualification, Karen is member of the Central Dancing Association and the school undertakes examinations under the CDA syllabus which aids technical ability and provides a foundation for those who may want to dance at a professional level in the future.

Today, Karen remains as passionate about dancing as she did at her first dance lesson at the age of three. Now in it's 24th year, the Karen Macpherson School of Dance has over 100 pupils and is one of the few dance schools to have the privilege of performing annually at The Grand Theatre in Wolverhampton.

ABOUT karen

the team

All classes are taught by Karen, but with so many pupils, we have a team of senior leaders who help out at our sessions each week. This ensures our classes run efficiently and that each dancer is given individual support. Rosie, Kate, Hollie, Emma, Nicole, Courtney, and Imogen have all danced with Karen from a young age, and are on hand each week to speak to parents and ensure children are enjoying themselves!

Karen and the team are CRB checked, licensed chaperones, and several members of the team are first aid trained.
